MMIR is one of the biggest problems weighing on Native, Indigenous, and First Nations communities today. It stands for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives and my family has been impacted directly. My Mommy, Lisa Anne Tait, was missing for 12 days before she was found murdered. The investigation into her death only lasted 2 days and resulted in no answers. This problem disproportionately affects Black and Trans Native Women. Lisa's life was dedicated to the Cherokee Nation Freedman History Project, educating me and her community about the formerly enslaved people of the Cherokee Nation and their descendants, who fought for and won their rights as tribal citizens. I believe that Lisa's dedication to her beliefs led to her homelessness and eventually put a target on her back. To learn more and continue her work please visit the website below. Thank You. Wado for your donation.
